Oct 15 – Dance Revolution

Last summer, my life was in complete transition.  I had graduated from college and had no idea where I was headed, except that, eventually, it would be into ministry.  I was working at a summer camp in Colorado, struggling with insecurity, with no idea what I would be doing after camp ended when I read these verses in 1 Samuel 10.  Samuel has just anointed Saul as the first king of Israel and says this to him:

The Spirit of the Lord will come upon you in power, and you will prophecy with [the prophets]; and you will be changed into a different person.  Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you.

What powerful words from God!  And especially at that time in my life, so reassuring.  God was calling Saul to be the KING of a nation that had never had one before.  That is such an incredible job and a tremendous responsibility!  Although the situation was much different, I felt the weight of responsibility too and I was terrified of it.  I didn’t think I could handle it; I didn’t think I was prepared.  But God spoke through Samuel to Saul and said, “You will be changed into a different person…Do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you,” and I felt Him speak those same words to me.

God wants to do great things through us and His power enables us to do just that.  It requires some confidence on our part though – confidence in God, as well as ourselves.  Once God has transformed us, we must be willing to move forward, trusting that He has given us the wisdom to make decisions and take action, even when we might be hesitant to do so.  Praise God for the amazing things He calls us to do and to be!
